About

Hello Everyone!

Throughout this blog I plan to document my story as a rider documenting what I have learned, training sessions, competitions, product reviews and more!

Info on myself – my name is Holly, I’m 21 and currently studying English Literature at the University of Derby and I have also been riding for the past 16 years. Horses are a massive part of my life and I am hoping to pursue a career in the horse industry once I have completed my degree at university. I am also part of one of the competing teams for the club at university, I compete at BUCS level wherein I often ride a horse I have never met before to then carry out a dressage test which is around the same level as a prelim, as well as doing a jumping round. Alongside this I have access to a horse at home who I compete in regular online dressage competitions. I am beginning this blog to catalogue my progress with both horses as well as write reviews of products I am trying along the way. I hope this can be useful to readers and shall show some progress along the way to my horsey career.

My horse:

Jack – Jack is a 15. 2 hh piebald cob and he is certainly full of character! I don’t own him myself however his owner Toni is happy for me to ride him whenever I can as she does not have as much time now her three daughters have all grown up. She has owned Jack for 12 years and I think he must be at least 22 years old now, however you would not believe it once you’re on him! Jack has an annoying personality really, as once you’re on – and that is sometimes difficult – he tries to convince you that he is really old and super tired and the laziest horse imaginable! However once you start to work him and a couple taps on his bottom with the whip he starts to go really nicely and he begins to work over his back and becomes a completely different horse! I would say that this is Jack’s hidden talent, as he is mostly used for a hacking which he is also perfect for, I have taken him out many a time and nothing scares him and you can tell he’s having a good time when cantering through the stubble fields too!

Lovely Jack
